IP Announcement Guide
At HostSailor, we’ve always prioritized your needs and satisfaction, and that’s why we’ve rolled out our IP Announcement (IPAN) service. This feature allows you to have your IP addresses announced by us, giving you access to a larger pool of IPs hosted on our rack servers. Even better, when it’s time to switch providers, you get to keep those IPs.
With our service, HostSailor will handle the advertising of your IPs using our AS number. To get started:
- The IP prefix needs to be at least a /24, and we’ll need an approved method to confirm you have permission to announce those IP ranges.
- If you’re not the owner of the IPs, no problem—we just need a signed letter of authorization from the actual owner. And don’t worry about limits on how many IP prefixes you can announce. Our IP announcement service is available for dedicated servers, colocation services, and both shared and private racks.
- Once your IPs are announced, your servers will be connected to tagged switch ports, giving you the flexibility to use those IPs however you need. Plus, our team can split subnets into smaller groups, free of charge.
The minimum prefix size for announcements is /24 for IPv4 and /48 for IPv6, and there may be additional charges based on your switch configuration, especially if you’re using your own Layer3 Switch to manage your BGP session. In that case, all your servers will be connected to your switch, and you’ll have control over how the prefixes are configured and announced.

Will the BGP announcement incur additional charges?
There is no extra charge if you have a server with us, and we can make the announcement once you provide us with the LOA.
Can I get it with all of the locations you have?
Yes, we provide it in all 3 locations we have: Rotterdam, Naaldwijk, Bucharest.
Can I have my IP range working using my VPS with you?
No, you need to have a dedicated server to get it working.
What is HostSailor’s ASN?
HostSailor’s ASN is AS60117.
Is it possible to use my own ASN instead of HostSailor’s?
Yes, it is possible. But you need a router for that ASN.
Do you support announcing my own IPv6 range?
Yes, it is possible with a /48 range on dedicated servers.
Which prefixes do you support to get it announced?
The minimum will be /24 for IPv4 and /48 for IPv6.
Can I announce an IP range through you which is already announced somewhere else?
No, the range must be unannounced from the previous provider.
What is the ETA for the setup?
Once you have provided the range and signed LOA, the announcement and network setup should be done within 1-2 hours unless we have any other emergencies going on.
